Movie Synopsis:
Good-hearted would-be veterinarian Gilbert 'Gilly' Noble, an orphan who works at the animal shelter in Shelbyville, Indiana, starts falling for walking disaster Josephine 'Jo' Wingfield, who even cuts his ear while doing his hair in the local salon. After six months, and some illicit sex, they decide they are ready for marriage.

But then a private investigator, whom Gilly hired to find his birth mother, reports that his birth mother, is Valdine Wingfield… Jo's mother. This brings the relationship to a crashing halt and Jo moves to Oregon.

Sixteen months later, Jo is about to marry a good catch in Jack Mitchelson when a certain Leon Pitofsky turns up and proves to be Valdine's true son. Gilly finds himself an orphan again but his love for Jo is no longer incestuous, so he drives across the country to find her.

Valdine, however, does not want Gilly ruining her daughters marriage into money and calls ahead to the Beaver PD to report Gilly as a 'sister-abuser' and mentally unstable. She also informs Jo of Gilly’s condition and tells her he believes he has an "imaginary friend" called Leo who he believes is her brother… will Gilly win back his true love?
